CLINIQUE 3-STEP SKINCARE KIT REVIEWPackaging: The kit comes in a cute box containing the 3 items- liquid facial soap, clarifying lotion for my skin type 3 and dramatically different moisturizing gel. The liquid facial foam comes in a frosty green coloured tube, the lotion (which is actually a toner) comes in a transparent screw cap bottle while the moisturizing gel comes in a frosty yellow tube. These products are travel-friendly (the introductory kit) and can be easily carried along wherever you go.

Texture: The facial soap is a transparent gel which forms lacy foam and very little quantity (peanut size) is enough for one time use. The clarifying lotion has a water-like consistency and the moisturizing gel is a gel-based moisturizer that is soft to touch and instantly gets soaked-up by the skin.

Fragrance: All Clinique products are fragrance free so whatever you smell is the actual/original product fragrance. The facial soap and toner smells like whisky! The facial soap has mild alcoholic smell which won’t bother your nose much but the clarifying lotion/toner has a very strong and nauseating whisky smell. The dramatically different moisturizing gel on the other hand has a mild soothing fragrance.

How to use: Wash your hands before you begin using the 3-step skincare products for good results. Apply the liquid facial soap on your face with fingers and massage for 2-3 minutes and wash off. You can also use your facial cleaning device. Pat dry your face which is now ready for the next step- application of clarifying lotion. Take a cotton ball and soak it with the clarifying lotion; wipe your face with it concentrating on the T-zone and acne prone areas. Let your face dry and apply a dollop of the dramatically different moisturizing gel. You are done!

It’s been a week I am using this Clinique 3-step skincare kit and here are my views so far- the liquid facial soap cleans your skin very well and it feels squeaky clean. Does not dry out my face and keeps it soft. The clarifying lotion smells horrible so I stop breathing until I am done applying it and also close my eyes since it gives a stinging sensation. I let the toner/clarifying lotion dry and liberally apply the dramatically different moisturizing gel. Skin feels stretched and dry when I apply the clarifying lotion and my skin literally drinks up the moisturizing gel making is so soft and smooth. I have an oily T-zone and my cheeks too occasionally get oily especially in the summers. I feel my skin does not get oily at all when I use this and stays matte and soft for 6-7 hours. After 2 days of using this 2 times a day (i.e. morning and before bedtime) I could see the major pimples that I had dried up and new ones stopped coming (the cystic and visible ones) and I was very happy with the way my skin looked and felt. After 3-4 days of using, I could see I was getting tiny white bumps near my mouth and nose and that the skin was getting dry and irritated. It was the clarifying lotion, I figured this out after going through a lot of online reviews. The toner is a bit strong for my skin since I have combination skin which is not as oily near the mouth and cheeks. The toner made my skin sore so I stopped using the toner two times a day and used it just once before bedtime. So I used the facial liquid soap, followed by la roche posay effaclar duo plus and then the dramatically different moisturizing gel in the morning and swapped the la roche posay cream with clarifying lotion at night. The moment I did this, my skin started clearing and there was no irritated skin anymore. Right now my skin feels clear and soft with no new pimples and bumps; skin is not at all oily.  I do have tiny bumps on my cheeks which are in the process of healing. So far so good, will keep you updated in week 2!

Its been 2 weeks now and i am posting an update. The face wash is working really well in cleansing my skin and even when it is getting cold here, the moisturizer works great in keeping my skin soft and supple.

I had a lot of expectations from the toner but it certainly does not want to work well which has made me upset. Skin behaved well when i changed from 2 times a day to once a day for the toner but it again caused breakouts! i thought maybe its the drying action that is making me breakout so i decided to use the toner just to cleanse my skin as it removes all the dirt and then rinse it off before using moisturizer. I tell you guys, it works great that way! I went through a lot of reviews and discovered that many have complained about breakouts after using this system, i suggest you rinse off the toner and see the difference.

Meanwhile, i started using retino cream on the breakouts to heal them and my skin is feeling clear and smooth now. So far the breakouts have stopped. I will continue this routine and update you after a week 🙂

its been 3 weeks i have started using this 3-step skincare routine, and if you ask me i still am not completely satisfied with the results. The toner i now use once every 2 days and wash it off so that my skin doesn’t get flaky or cause breakouts just to remove any dead skin cells and as a through cleansing routine. The facial soap and moisturizer is something I have used all the time and i love them. It is not necessary that all the products suit you. This system might work amazingly for some and might fail for other. for me, its a neutral reaction. I might repurchase the facial soap and the moisturizer and i am not really sure about the toner! The retino cream takes cares of my pimples while the facial soap cleanses and dramatically different moisturizing gel keeps my skin soft and supple.
