MY TAKE ON NYKAA SKINGENIUS SCULPTING AND HYDRATING FOUNDATION
Packaging: The foundation comes in a sleek cream colored plastic bottle with black screw cap. The nozzle is wide and can get messy; though you can carry this around in your handbag since it doesn’t leak.
Texture: The foundation is very thin and literally flows on skin if you put a drop just to test. Which also means this product goes on thin.
Shade: There are total of 5 shades in this range and I picked up the shade ‘warm sand’ which is a perfect match for my skin tone.
How I use and staying power: To apply, you can simply take a small amount of the foundation on the back of your hands and apply it on your skin using a foundation buffing brush or a beauty blender. You can also use your finger tips if you are comfortable.
I have been trying out this foundation several times just to be sure of the final results! let us see how it fared according to the claims made-
Claim #1- Natural and radiant finish: So, the product claims to give your skin a natural and radiant finish. I have combination skin and I always prefer matte foundations. I do not mind using dewy foundations since they give a healthy glow and all I expected from this product was to add radiance and natural glow to my skin- which is a total FAIL in that aspect! It simply made my face oily and sticky and overall shiny like I have slathered oil on my face! Also, it felt very tacky and sticky to touch.
Claim #2- Lightweight formula: The formula is thin but certainly isn’t lightweight! Since it has a tacky and sticky feeling to it, you are always reminded of having something on your face which definitely isn’t lightweight.
Claim #3- Homogeneous application: Now, if you are using your finger tips to apply this foundation- well and good. Using a beauty blender or buffing brush might need some efforts for proper blending to get rid of the patchy-streaky marks.
Claim #4- Sun filters: The product claims to have some ‘sun filters’ that shield your complexion. How come no SPF is mentioned?
Claim #5- Virtually disappear imperfections: By this claim, one would expect the product to give at least medium coverage. I have acne-prone skin and dark spots from healing acne and my MAC foundation needs no concealer at all! One layer of this particular foundation did not cover up anything but it did even out my skin tone. I tried another layer of this foundation and it made my acne marks look grey and weird, and they were definitely clearly visible. Also, layering made my skin very oily and sticky and the foundation would literally transfer if touched!
Claim #6- Colour adaptation technology: The shade looked perfect with one layer. Now that I layered the foundation to build it up for coverage, it started making my skin shade look different from my neck and body (apart from making it sticky). It actually looked whitish. Something that I did not expect from this product as it has a color adapting technology (as per the claims)! And for the matter of fact, I did not purchase one shade lighter or darker, this was my exact match.
Now, once I applied the foundation, I was like fine- setting it with a powder should work. This trick definitely took away some shine and the texture felt much better. After 1-2 hours my skin started getting very oily and I had to powder it up frequently. I never ever blot or touch my face for good 6-7 hours when I use MAC foundation. I was dying to go home and get rid of the foundation! It definitely felt hydrating but had the tacky sticky feeling at the same time. I feel the foundation would suit severely dry and naturally flawless skin.
