What the brand says: A high strength lactic acid superficial peeling formulation that gently exfoliates your skin and visibly targets uneven skin tone, textured skin and fine lines. Also contains AHA.
What It Is – Lactic Acid 10% + HA 2% is a high-strength exfoliating serum with lactic acid and hyaluronic acid.
What It Does – This treatment resurfaces the skin to promote a bright, even tone and a smooth, soft texture. For a more gentle formulation, try The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA 2%.
Packaging: The product comes in a characteristic ‘The Ordinary’ clinical bottle with no fancy print or anything. I really like the frosted bottle and dropper that is easy to use and carry around.
Texture: The acid feels like glycerin but settles into a sticky-matte (non-greasy) film on the skin. I like to layer it with a night mask or moisturizer and that is how you are actually supposed to dilute the product.
Fragrance: The fragrance of this product is a bit unusual (not in a bad way) but you will get used to it.
How to use: Since this is a high-strength formulation, it is recommended to dilute it the initial days of usage to avoid any inflammation or adverse effects. To dilute, top it up with a moisturizer or your night cream that does not contain retinol. Do not use this during the day time and always use a sunscreen when you start using this because this product makes your skin sensitive and prone to sunburn.
First impressions- I have used retinol products earlier and have suffered severe skin peeling, dryness and itchy skin the initial week of usage; and that is exactly what I expected from this product since this too is a skin-peeling/exfoliating formulation. The product feels like glycerin but blends easily and settles into a sticky-matte film on skin which isn’t uncomfortable. I used a moisturizing night mask/pack on top to dilute this product. When I woke up, I did not really see any visible difference the first time I used it but skin definitely felt smooth and touchable after 2 uses. I am surprised with the fact that even after using the product 2 times, my skin has not faced any adverse reactions or itching which is great! This means that the product is gentle or maybe diluting helped! It is day 3 and I do not have any new acne yet which is too good. So far, the product seems good and quite promising. I shall use it for a few weeks and update you guys about the final results and my thoughts on this much-hyped product.
Final Review- It’s been almost 20 days since I started using this product and I feel this is the right time to put up my views on this product for you guys. I have textured skin with acne, bumps and scars over my face. Over a past couple of weeks, I have been using/trying out a lot of good skin care products which is why I get very less acne. This product I feel too has contributed to my better-looking skin. Redness and dark spots have lightened and bumps have considerably reduced which makes my skin appear smoother than before. I always had the issue of bumpy and textured-looking skin (in sunlight and during day time) after putting on makeup which still does look a bit textured but not as rough as it did earlier. Skin definitely feels getting better and I am happy with the fact that I get acne rarely so there are less chances of new scars appearing. My skin does look refined and smoothed out and using this product religiously for a longer period will definitely give even better results.
