THEBALM GIRLS LIPSTICK REVIEWPackaging: The lipsticks come in the usual twist up tubes that are frosty silver in colour and are enclosed in an attractive carton box with funky comic print characteristic of TheBalm products.

Texture: The lipsticks are not at all matte but they are not very shiny or greasy either. They settle into a soft balm-like texture and feels comfortable on the lips.

Shade: There are a total of 6 shades in the range and here is a summary on each:

Mai Billsbepaid: This is a very light nude shade with pink-mauve undertones. Might look frosty on darker skin tones.

Anita Boytoy: This is a metallic light pink shade and will suit fair to medium skin tones. Can look a bit frosty on darker or dusky skin tones. To be precise, the shade is similar to Maybelline New York 24 Color 2 Step lipstick in shade- Continuous Coral.

Ima Goodkisser: This is a light pink pastel shade with peach undertones to it. The shade looks gorgeous on fair to medium skin tone. Will look frosty on darker skin tones.

Foxxy Pout: This is a metallic copper-brown shade which I never thought would suit my medium skin tone, but it does definitely! This particular shade should suit fair-medium-dusky skin tones but might look weird on dark skin tones.

Mia Moore: This is a proper red shade and looks lovely on all skin tones.

Amanda Kissmylips: This is a sheer (compared to other lipsticks in the range) lipstick or a lipstick with decent pigmentation. The shade is dark brick red with deep brown undertones.

Fragrance: The lipsticks have vanilla-mint fragrance which I hate as it reminds me of cough syrups!

How I use and staying power: To use, simply swipe the lipsticks directly on the lips or use a lipstick brush if you like. Press your lips together for even application and you are done!

The lipsticks are definitely not matte but have a balm-like texture which feels very comfortable on the lips. I hate lipsticks that shine and I am happy these don’t have an incredible shine but a very subtle sheen like a thick lip balm. The lipsticks are very moisturizing and buttery and keep lips soft. Now coming to the staying powder, the lipsticks are long lasting even if they transfer because they leave behind a visible stain, especially darker shades. The lighter shades might need reapplication. All the shades are great but would mostly suit fair-medium-dusky skin tones, none for darker skin tones! TheBalm should really add in some variety in the shades.
