Farsali Unicorn Essence Review- IS IT WORTH THE HYPE?

What the brand says: FARSÁLI’s Unicorn Essence is an innovative oil-free solution that acts as a dual-purpose serum, helping to protect the skin from free radical damage while preparing it for layering moisturizer or makeup application. This Unicorn Essence is made with the antioxidant superfruits of acai, goji, and blueberry. Packed with vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin E, this serum promotes the restoration of natural complexion health and helps minimize signs of aging. Due to the water-based formula of this serum, your skin can soak up the supplements without leaving it feeling greasy. It uses water to deliver its ingredients rather than using a synthetic base. Since water is the best hydrator, it means that you’ll still receive benefits from active ingredients and a bonus dose of moisture. Vegan and cruelty-free product.

Packaging: The product comes in a pretty purple sturdy dropper bottle and is definitely great quality. The dropper is easy to use.

Texture: The essence has a water-like consistency and gets absorbed into the skin with little massaging leaving behind a dewy-glow. Does not feel heavy or greasy at all.

Fragrance: The product has sweet-medicine like fragrance which I am frankly not a fan of. The fragrance reminds me of cough syrups.

How I use and after-effects: Now, this product is hyped all over instagram and I wanted to try it out since a very long time. When it launched in India on Nykaa, I was more than excited to try it out. Nykaa sent it to me a few days before the launch and I knew I had to use it religiously so I could review it for you guys. It’s been good 5-6 months since I started using this and I have a lot to share!

So, the product is meant to be used as a serum on its own or under makeup as a primer.

Firstly, lets talk about how the product works as a primer. The product gets absorbed effortlessly upon massaging and adds a dewy glow and when you apply your makeup product on top, it adheres well and stays put all day; I like the product as a primer! You can also use it on your lids as an eye shadow primer to intensify the product pigment. The serum/essence will work as a primer for all skin types for sure.

Now coming to its skin care benefits, frankly speaking I am yet to see any noticeable difference and it’s been good 5-6 months! If it has anti-ageing benefits, I cannot comment on that because obviously I need to keep using it for years to see how my skin looks when I actually turn 30+ to see any ‘preventive’ effects. The product might be having anti-oxidant effects but that isn’t something anyone can point out and say that yes, this works great for its anti-oxidant effects; no right? I like the feel of this serum but completely HATE how it looks on bare skin. I can use it under makeup but on bare skin, I am not willing to continue using it as a ‘serum’ thanks to the tacky shimmer that it contains. The shimmer was clearly not required in the product! If you are under the impression that the shimmer will give you a glow, I am sorry to put it out here that the shimmer looks cheap and you can easily see it on your face especially in direct sunlight and natural bright light. Without the shimmer, the product could have performed much better as a ‘skin care’ product. I give this a big thumbs-down if I look at it as a skin care serum but as a primer, its great. Again, for that price, you will be able to buy 3-4 tubes of some great drugstore primers that work even better! I am clearly never purchasing this. If you love using only high-end products and in a lookout for a primer, you can give this a try.

PRICE: INR 1750/- for 10 ml and INR 4750/- for 30 ml
